BREAKING: Bandits Kill 6, Abduct Many In Sokoto
Bandits fleeing the current military offensive in Zamfara state have killed six people and kidnapped many others in Sokoto state’s Tureta local government area.
iexclusive News Nigeria reports that many persons who were hurt by the marauders were being treated in the hospital.
Tureta shares a border with Zamfara state, which is hosting the military operation.
The recent suspension of a telecommunication network in a neighboring state has also impacted the area.
Around 2 a.m. on Thursday, the attackers were said to have raided the area.
They were accused of deceiving unsuspecting members of the community by imitating the Muslim call to prayer.
“The people began to gather, believing it was time for a dawn prayer, and the bandits opened fire on them.
“They killed six people, injured many more, and kidnapped a number of others. Our insider stated, “The entire area is in shock, and some residents have begun relocating to neighboring areas.”
Maniru Dan’iya, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto, paid a visit to the area and expressed his condolences for the occurrence, as well as his commitment to ending banditry in the state.
He also stated that the state government would cover the injured’s medical expenses.
