BREAKING: National Power Grid Collapses Again 

National Power Grid, on Monday, had another technical failure, resulting in widespread blackouts.

iexclusivenews reports that It was the 21st failure of the year, however not all of them were made public by power generators and distributors.

In a statement delivered to consumers on Monday morning, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company verified the latest development.

“The current supply interruption is as a result of total collapse of the national grid today which has led to outage across all IE networks. Please be assured that your supply will be restored as soon as supply is restored to the national grid. Apologies for the inconveniences we must have caused you,” the message by Ikeja Electric read.

While some falls were brief and not publicized, many others that lasted days were. The number of states affected by today’s grid failure is unknown.

In June, the Peoples Gazette detailed how the constant grid failures devastated businesses and impoverished Nigerians.

The National Electricity Distribution Company blamed the constant outages on insufficient gas supply.

Thermal station maintenance, and vandalism of power infrastructure and gas pipelines, pledging greater power delivery beginning July 1, 2022.

However, despite the promises made by the regulatory commission to address the issue of grid collapse, Nigeria has continued to struggle with grid collapses.

However, iexclusivenews Nigeria recall that Dukat Ayuba, the North-west zonal organising secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE). Previously called the privatization of the power sector a swindle, noting that nothing has changed to better its operations nine years later.

Mr Ayuba stated that “the investors are still working with antiquated equipment dating back 35, 40, and 50 years” while announcing plans to renew the union’s industrial action.
