BREAKING: SERAP To Sue Buhari Over EndSARS Panel Report

 

SERAP, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, has vowed to sue President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

SERAP stated that its filling a lawsuit against Buhari, requesting that troops and police officers involved in the shooting of EndSARS demonstrators at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State be arrested.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the group urged the Buhari administration to compel the payment of reparations to victims in a series of tweets.

SERAP stated the EndSARS Panel report will be part of its evidence when it announced it would file the lawsuit on Wednesday.

According to SERAP, “we’re suing the Buhari administration to compel it to swiftly arrest the troops and police officers involved for the shooting of #EndSARS demonstrators at the Lekki-Toll Gate and provide restitution to the victims.”

SERAP To Sue Buhari Over EndSARS Panel Report

“By submitting your names, please indicate your interest in joining the litigation.

We’re going to file the lawsuit first thing tomorrow morning, so please let us know if you’re interested.”

“We’re also following up on our plea to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court dated October 21, 2020 by sending a copy of the Lagos #EndSARS Panel’s report as additional information and evidence today.”

Soldiers and police officials shot and killed some EndSARS demonstrators at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State in June 2020.

A nationwide outcry erupted in response to the tragedy.

After then, a panel was formed to investigate the incident, and its report was submitted yesterday.
