Charles Soludo Appoints Oby Ezekwesili Head Of Transition Team
Charles Soludo, has appointed Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili as the head of a transition team ahead of his takeover from incumbent governor, Willie Obiano.
Mr. Soludo, an ex-CBN governor and APGA candidate, was proclaimed the victor of the Anambra governorship election on November 6, 2021, after defeating his closest challengers, the PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo and the APC’s Andy Uba, with 43,285 votes.
iexclusive News Nigeria reports that while the governor-elect has yet to make a public declaration, official sources acquainted with the situation informed Peoples Gazette that Mr Soludo, who will be inaugurated in as the state governor in March, has picked transition members, led by Mrs Ezekwesili.
According to sources, the transition team’s inauguration would take place on January 20 at Anambra’s Agulu Lake (Golden Tulip) Hotel.
Although the team’s members are still unclear, the former minister will draft and implement a transition plan to ensure a seamless and effective takeover of Mr Soludo’s government as the team leader.
Mrs. Ezekwesili, a former presidential contender in the 2019 general election, gained a global reputation as a social justice activist after leading the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. After 276 Christian female students were seized by Boko Haram terrorists in Chibok, Borno State, on April 15, 2014, a campaign was launched.
She received an international position in December 2021 when she was appointed to the Board of Directors of Nexford University in Washington, D.C., United States.
She co-founded Transparency International, a civil society organization that leads the fight against corruption, in the 1990s. Mrs. Ezekwesili was named vice president of the World Bank in March 2007.
