EFCC Chairman Denies Raid On Mary Odili’s Residence

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has spoken out about the raid on Justice Mary Odili’s home.

iexclusive News Nigeria reported that Friday, security personnel broke into the Maitama apartment of the Supreme Court justice.

The EFCC was accused of being behind the raid, but the commission later published a statement denying any involvement.

The attempt to link the EFCC to the raid, Bawa stated on Channels Television on Saturday, is the work of mischief-makers.

He claimed that such individuals were attempting to sever the connection between the commission and the judiciary.

“I believe they are just mischief-makers attempting to attach anything to the EFCC of this sort,” Bawa stated. We weren’t there, and neither were any of our operators. It isn’t from the EFCC, and it isn’t related to the EFCC.

“I’ve also called all of the country’s non-security and law enforcement agencies, and they’ve all denied that anyone has been sent to the residence to search or arrest anyone.”

“In reality, I learned about it from a very senior lawyer who called the director of legal.” We were having an evening discussion, and he requested that I pass the phone to the director of operations with whom we were also meeting.

“And when I returned, since I had just stepped out, they said this is what’s going on, and we just chuckled because we know there are a lot of individuals who want to pit us against the courts.”

“And you know that the judiciary is the biggest collaborator in our job, and of course they’re just trying to create an issue where there isn’t one.”

The judge’s husband, Peter Odili, is a former governor of Rivers State.

He’s been in the news recently for alleged corruption when in power in Rivers.
