Euro 2020.: Italy became first country to qualify for the knockout stage
Following a 3-0 win over Switzerland on Wednesday night, Italy, one of the hosts of Euro 2020, has qualified for the knockout stage.
After defeating Turkey 3-0 in their first game, Roberto Mancini’s side entered the contest as the Group A leaders.
Manuel Locatelli scored a hat trick against Switzerland, and Ciro Immobile added a late goal.
The Italians now have six points and will advance to the next round.
Either Switzerland or Wales will join them from Group A.
Earlier in the day, the Welsh defeated Turkey 2-0 to knock them out of the competition.
