FAAN Launches Task Force to Combat Touting and Extortion at Nigerian Airports

iexclusivenews – The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has taken a decisive step in its commitment to enhancing passenger experience and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. In a recent announcement,

FAAN revealed the establishment of a dedicated task force aimed at eradicating touting, extortion, and other illicit activities at Nigeria’s airports.

Cracking Down on Illegal Activities

FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, expressed deep concern over the persistent harassment and extortion of passengers at various airports across the country.

To address this issue, her administration has launched an extensive campaign to crack down on these illegal activities.

Task Force Leadership and Measures

Henry Agbebire, FAAN’s Director of Special Duties, has been appointed as the chairman of the newly formed task force.

This task force is charged with enforcing discipline among airport staff and fostering a culture of professionalism at all levels.

Mrs. Kuku has also declared her intention to personally engage with all government agencies operating at the airports to ensure compliance with anti-touting and anti-extortion measures.

Zero Tolerance for Misconduct

In a stern warning to all airport personnel, including FAAN staff, Kuku emphasized that strict disciplinary actions would be enforced against anyone involved in illicit practices.

The era of business as usual is over, and the administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviors.

Swift Judicial Proceedings

To expedite the legal process for prosecuting offenders, FAAN plans to establish magistrate courts within international airports.

These courts will facilitate swift judicial proceedings for those caught engaging in illegal activities.

Enhancing Transparency and Passenger Satisfaction

FAAN aims to enhance transparency and passenger satisfaction by introducing dedicated phone lines and QR codes.

Passengers can use these channels to provide feedback on their airport experience.

Additionally, all airport staff will be required to clearly display their ‘on-duty’ cards and name tags, ensuring easy identification and accountability.

FAAN remains unwavering in its commitment to delivering exceptional service and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all passengers and airport users.
