Femi Gbajabiamila Denies Ownership Of Abuja Building Used To Hack INEC BVAS

Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has stated that the property on 15 Ganges Street, Maitama, Abuja, where some individuals were arrested with electoral materials including the Bi-Modal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) during the Saturday Presidential election does not belong to him.

Gbajabiamila’s answer, which was released in Abuja Friday night, was a counter to various claims in some quarters.

The Speaker retold the tale, expressing his disgust with the report.

“A few days ago, while the collation process for the Presidential election, which was held on Saturday 25 February 2023, was ongoing, social media posts made by some unscrupulous people suggested that some persons were arrested with electoral materials, including the Bi-Modal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) and that the property where the purported persons were arrested belongs to me.

“I would want to state unequivocally that I do not own any property at 15 Ganges Street, Maitama, Abuja.

“In addition, the Nigeria Police Force has disputed the claim in a press statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

“According to the police news release, ‘Operators of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), acting on a tip from Residents of an area in Maitama who observed suspicious activity, visited the place, interrogated the residents, and conducted a check on the residence.

“During the search, certain election materials and BVAS machines were discovered in their possession.

“But, when questioned, the Independent National Electoral Commission established that the tenants of the residence are personnel of Emperor Technologies, which outsources engineering services.”

“I applaud the Police for their prompt action and explanation on the subject. I strongly advise the public to dismiss the claim that I possess the aforementioned property.

“At a time when false news is quickly gaining public attention on social media, it became important to publish this press release to put the record straight; otherwise, some individuals among the public might accept such brazen lies produced by purveyors of fake news,” Gbajabiamila said in the statement.
