Firmino sets to leave Liverpool on a free Transfer

Roberto Firmino‘s eight-year tenure at Anfield will come to an end when his contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the current campaign.

The 31-year-old has chosen to leave the Reds on a free transfer rather than extend his contract, according to reports from Sky Sports and the BBC on Friday.

Firmino, who has 102 goals in 352 appearances for the club, was essential to Liverpool’s ascent under Jürgen Klopp back to the pinnacle of the English and European games.

After coming from Hoffenheim in 2015, he has won several prestigious awards in the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, and FA Cup.

The emergence of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo at Anfield, however, has caused the Brazilian to drop down the pecking order in recent seasons.

Firmino is one of five Liverpool players out of contract this season as the club prepares for a big overhaul.

Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, both midfielders, are also slated to go. James Milner, 37, and third-choice goalkeeper Adrian’s futures are unknown.
