Ghana Election 2020: Nana Akufo-Addo Wins Ghana Presidential Election

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party has won the 2020 Ghana presidential elections, according to the Ghana Electoral Commission.

Ghana Electoral Commission announced Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the winner, 48 hours after the December 7 election.

President Akufo-Addo won with 51.59% that represent 6,730,413 votes, according to the head of Ghana Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa

The main opposition John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress has 6,214,889 votes that is 47.36%.

Mrs. Mensa the returning officer, said that the final results that she announced does not have the Techiman South constituency result because collation have not been completed.

She said even if the total number of Techiman South voters, which is 128,018, is added to the result of John Mahama, it will not change the final result.

Over 17 million eligible voters participated in the Ghana election 2020, that many described as peaceful.

The election is the first time that Ghana used electronic voting, something that Ghana Electoral Commission chairperson said Ghanaians suppose to be  proud of.

Jubilation has started in the camp of NPP supporters across the country.

Akufo-Addo will return to serve his second term in office as the president.
