Gov. Umahi: Secondus Was Naive; I Predicted His Removal

David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, has claimed to know that Uche Secondus, the beleaguered chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will be ousted.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that several attempts to remove Secondus from his post have been made in recent weeks.

Multiple court rulings have followed, both banning and restoring him as the PDP’s national chairman.

Secondus was suspended as a member of the PDP Ward 5 executive committee in Ikuru, Andoni LGA, Rivers State, on Tuesday.

“I won’t say I’m delighted with what is happening to the chairman — Secondus — because he was a bit naive,” Umahi said on Channels Television on Friday.

“Before I left, I told them to accomplish two things. I was warned that the working committee, particularly Secondus, would be unfairly eliminated in order to give one or two men the power to own the PDP.

I informed Secondus and the rest of the working committee when they came to see me in Abuja that it should not happen.

“The second was to hand over the president to the south-east, and we’d all be together. They did not, though. I believe it is God’s plan for me to be where I am, and I am quite content.”
