Governor Fubara To Probe Wike’s Administration See Why

iexclusivenews – Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced plans to probe the administration of his predecessor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The decision comes after a year-long political crisis that saw Wike’s loyalists attempt to remove Fubara as governor.

Despite efforts to resolve the issue, no progress has been made, prompting Fubara to take action.

Probe Announcement

Fubara made the announcement while swearing in Dagogo Israel Iboroma as the new Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice for Rivers State.

Iboroma replaces Zacchaeus Adangor, who resigned in April following a government reshuffle.

Fubara stated, “We will set up a panel of inquiry on governance in Rivers State.”

He also expressed his disappointment that the political crisis had not been resolved, saying,

“I thought this was a problem within a family that would have been resolved, but unfortunately, no progress has been made.”

Previous Allegations Against Wike

In 2013, the Civil Society Network Against Corruption (CSNAC) petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Wike over allegations of corrupt practices.

The petition alleged that Wike coerced principals of federal government colleges nationwide to remit 40% of their allocated funds, an increase from the previous 15%.

Fubara emphasized the importance of Iboroma’s role in addressing the issues facing the state, saying,

“We believe that you are not going to be the one that when they send service to you, you go and file ‘nolle prosequi’ (voluntary withdrawal) or you go and file one thing that would kill us here.”
