GWR: A 72-hour Kissing Marathon Banned by Ekiti Government
A 72-hour kissing marathon that was intended to try the Guinness World Record (GWR) in Ekiti has been outlawed by the government.
According to Iexclusive news, the Ekiti State administration has prohibited a planned “three-day kissing marathon” that was intended to establish the state’s Guinness World Record (GWR).
Our online newspaper has learned that a group going by the name of Sugartee had planned to start the longest world kissing marathon on July 7 at a well-known amusement park in the state capital, according to an advertisement that was going around the state and social media.
However, the state government warned that any venue that sponsored the tournament would face serious sanctions in a letter dated July 3, 2023, from the Ministry of Arts and Culture issued to the Ekiti State Hoteliers Association.
In a letter to the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dele Ogunsemoyin, the director of tourism, Adebanji Adelusi, stated that the upcoming “Kiss-a-thon” event could damage the state’s reputation.

The statement states, “Kiss-a-thon” as an event is not only ludicrous, unhealthy, immoral, and capable of degrading the state’s reputation, but is also a programme that is at odds with the ideals of the state’s citizens and is thus capable of morally regressing our youth.
Hence, the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism hereby forbids the organising of this event or any others like it in any venue that intends to continue operating legally in Ekiti State.
“In light of the foregoing, you are thus urged to communicate the substance of this Notice to the members of the Ekiti State Hoteliers’ Association in order to adequately monitor their outlets against being utilised adversely to bring shame on the government and people of Ekiti State.”
It may be noted that Damilola Adeparusi, also known as Chef Dammy, recently finished a 120-hour cooking marathon in the state’s Ilupeju-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area.
