How Gloria Osei, Husband Obtain Dominican Passports Amid Interpol Manhunt

Gloria Igberaese and Muyiwa Folorunsho, a Nigerian couple on the run after being declared wanted by Interpol for their role in a multimillion-dollar investment scam, have obtained Dominican passports.

iexclusive News Nigeria had reported that the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court issued arrest warrants for the entrepreneurs, CEOs of Divergent Enterprise, which operates firms such as Landlagos, PorkMoney, Hyberfactory, and Porkoyum, among others, last week.

“Gloria Osei and husband are wanted by the police for acquiring money under false pretenses, theft, and diversion of funds,” according to a notice issued by the Nigeria Police Force’s Interpol office in Lagos.

After Chijioke Ukaegbu, and other victims filed a petition against them, they were proclaimed wanted.

The defendants, whose social media fame earned them the moniker ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ reportedly scammed investors of N1 billion in one case.

Victims alleged in a January 21 appeal to federal authorities that the monies were transferred to personal use, including the purchase of expensive homes and foreign citizenship.

The accusations that Gloria Osei and her husband bought foreign citizenship appear to be accurate, according to the data pages of their Dominican passports, which were seen by The Gazette.

Dominica, a small island in the eastern Caribbean Sea, has become a sanctuary for fraudsters seeking to elude the law, providing diplomatic immunity to the highest bidder, which Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, is said to have purchased.

Aljazeera aired a program in 2019 on how affluent politicians, criminals, and corrupt businesspeople buy diplomatic passports from Caribbean countries. The prices vary between $250,000 and $2 million, according to the documentary ‘Diplomats for Sale.’

Mrs. Alison-Madueke, who was on trial for stealing billions of dollars from oil earnings, was found to have gained the citizenship of a foreign nation in order to avoid punishment by any law enforcement body.

It was revealed that she paid $2.2 million for the diplomatic passport in order to avoid punishment.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also nominated her as Dominica’s Trade and Investment Commissioner a few days before former President Goodluck Jonathan’s government ended.

“In London, Prime Minister Skerrit personally hands her (Diezani) a Dominican diplomatic passport; a passport that may shield her from criminal charges,” according to the article.

We discovered records indicating that “a few days later, a shell company was created in Delaware, an American state whose rules mean the actual owners of a firm are kept hidden,”  

“Four months later, the shell company buys a $2.2 million New York apartment” with no mortgage.

“Property records indicate that the prime minister’s wife, Melissa, was a resident,” the article continued. The Skerrit family was photographed there. Diezani and Skerrit both deny any ties to the firm that purchased the apartment.”
