Igbo Lawmakers To Meet Buhari Over Nnamdi Kanu

The National Assembly’s Southeast caucus has decided to intervene in the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the caucus decided to pursue a political settlement to Kanu’s case.

To that aim, the caucus decided to form a committee to work with the Federal Government and other interested parties on Kanu’s case.

This online news outlet understand that this was one of the caucus’s suggestions at a meeting held in Abuja at the residence of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.

“We carefully discussed the subject of Mazi Nnamdi and resolved to intervene,” according to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting.

“To that aim, we decided to form a committee that would work constructively with relevant stakeholders, the Federal Government, and its agencies to find a political solution. We’ll keep Ndigbo informed about developments in this regard.”

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that IPOB was also praised by the caucus for calling off the Monday sit-at-home directive.

“Noticed with satisfaction that IPOB has lifted the Monday sit-at-home order, and resolved to guarantee that no one uses them as a ruse to destabilize Igbo Nation.

“Call on our people to go about their lawful businesses, and enjoin our governors and security agencies to rebuild confidence in our people by ensuring not only the security of their lives and property, but also that our people feel safe as they go about their lawful businesses,” the lawmakers added.
