IGP Appoints Tunji Disu As Kyari Replacement
IGP Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu as the new Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team. IRT.
iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Disu succeeds DCP Abba Kyari, who was suspended after Raymond Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, indicted him.
His appointment comes “on the heels of Management’s decision to fill the leadership void inside the IRT and refocus the Unit for enhanced service delivery,” according to the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, in a statement issued yesterday.
“In his leadership of the Unit, the IGP has charged the new Head of the IRT to demonstrate his professional ability. He further reassured residents that the IRT will continue to focus on carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with national statutes and international best practices.
DCP Tunji Disu was the former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS Lagos State, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, prior to his appointment as the new Head of the IRT.
He was also a former Commander of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union (AU) Peacekeeping Mission in Dafur, Sudan, and a former Deputy Head of the Unit at the State CID, Rivers State.
DCP Disu holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lagos State University and a Master of Public Administration from Ondo State’s Adekunle Ajasin University.
Small Arms Smuggling Training in Botswana, Internet Fraud Training at Cambridge University, UK, Strategic Leadership Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos, Forensic Investigations and Criminal Intelligence Course at the University of Lagos are among the professional courses he has attended both at home and abroad.
He belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management.
