Lagos State Suspends NURTW, Takes Over Parks As MC Oluomo Demand

Lagos State Government has stopped National Union of Road Transport Workers Union (NURTW) activities, after the suspension of MC Oluomo.

iexclusivenews reports that Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo the NURTW State Chairman, was removed by the national leadership.

As a result of the suspension, Oluomo stated that the Lagos chapter would be leaving the organization.

And urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to take over the parks.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Information Commissioner, stated that the administration has been closely monitoring happenings.

His message on Thursday night noted the assertions and counter-claims about the union’s power.

Omotoso stated that the government has a responsibility to safeguard the safety of Lagosians and visitors’ lives and property.

The official emphasized the importance of calming the “unnecessary tension” created by the NURTW leadership squabble.

And protecting people from the situation’s potential consequences.

“The Government hereby suspends the activities of NURTW, which must stop to operate in all parks and garages in Lagos State,” he stated, citing the law’s stipulations.

Omotoso declared that an urgent committee of important stakeholders would be formed to take charge of the parks.

The government went on to say that the measure was made as part of its responsibilities to ensure that law and order did not break down in Lagos.
