Lawmaker Assault: Ikwechegh Attacks Bolt Driver in Shocking Incident

iexclusivenews – In a disturbing incident that has sparked public outrage, House of Representatives member Alex Ikwechegh allegedly assaulted an e-hailing driver and destroyed his property during a delivery encounter in Abuja.

The lawmaker, who represents Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency in Imo State, was captured on video physically attacking the driver and making threatening statements.

Lawmaker Assault Details Emerge from Viral Video

The confrontation began when the driver requested the lawmaker to collect a delivery of snails from his vehicle.

According to witness accounts and video evidence, Ikwechegh responded with aggressive behavior, including slapping the driver three times and hurling verbal abuse.

The situation escalated when the lawmaker allegedly damaged the driver’s phone and tore his clothing.

During the incident, Representative Ikwechegh repeatedly emphasized his position of authority, stating;

“Do you know who I am? I’m a Senator of this Republic.” The lawmaker threatened to “make this man disappear in the whole Nigeria,” claiming that “nothing will happen” if he did so.

He further threatened to lock the driver in his generator house.

Throughout the confrontation, the e-hailing driver maintained a remarkably professional demeanor, consistently requesting payment for his services in a calm manner.

Despite facing physical assault and verbal abuse, the driver’s responses remained measured, simply stating, “I did a job for you and you have to pay me.”

Property Damage and Physical Assault Documented

The incident resulted in significant property damage, with the lawmaker allegedly:

-Breaking the driver’s phone during an attempt to document the incident

-Tearing the driver’s clothes

-Delivering multiple slaps to the driver’s face

-Refusing to pay for the delivery service

Call for Action from Driver Community

Following the incident, the driver, now shirtless and visibly distressed, appealed to fellow ATWAN (All Transport Workers

Association of Nigeria) members for support. He directed them to the location in Maitama, near the Farmers’ Market, where the incident occurred.

The incident raises serious concerns about abuse of power and the safety of service workers in Nigeria.

The lawmaker’s recorded threats and actions potentially violate several laws, including:
