Marsai Martin Breaks Guinness World Record For Youngest Hollywood Executive Producer.

“Who knew ‘Little’ would be historic?”

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that 16-year-old Marsai Martin has broken the Guinness World Record for the Youngest Hollywood Executive Producer.

The 16-year-old Black-ish star has broken the record by becoming Hollywood’s youngest executive producer after working on her debut film, ‘Little’, in which she also starred.

The idea for the movie began in her living room where she first brought the idea to her parents.

After working on the concept, Martin took her proposal to Blackish creator, Kenya Barris, and in her own words, “the rest was history”.

After the pitch was accepted, Martin signed a deal with Universal Pictures, developing scripted projects, last year.

Martin, who was born 14 August 2004, was aged 14 years 241 days when Little was released on 12 April 2019.

‘Little’ tells the story of a domineering boss who becomes a child again and learns the error of her ways, proving that kindness always wins.

Martin was not prepared to stop with a singular credit as an executive producer, she also set her sights on starring in the film.

“It feels crazy, honestly,” Martin said in a video of her certificate presentation. “A world record? That’s insane.”

Although Marasi is now 16 years old, she technically broke the record in 2019 but wasn’t presented with this award nor officially declared a record-breaker by Guinness until now.

“It was so fun and so exciting because I always want to create things that make me happy. It’s insane when it actually comes to fruition,” Martin continued.

Growing up reading the Guinness World Records books, Martin was stunned to learn she would be featured in the Guinness World Records 2021 edition.

“I was very shocked for sure. For me, I could have never imagined being a part of something like this, I am so beyond grateful to be part of it.”

Not only have the events of this year failed to slow her down, 2020 has been one of Martin’s most eventful yet.

With two movies in the works, trying her hand at sci-fi and continuing with Season 7 of Blackish, Martin is busier than ever.

As her list of accomplishments grows by the minute, Martin believes in utilizing her success to inspire others to chase their dreams.

She hopes to encourage other young people to “see that anything is possible, no matter how old you are, no matter what time, what place, it has to all start with you.”

Now, at 16 years old, Marsai Martin is using her platform to allow others to see themselves represented in her.

“I hope that all the young Black girls out there really see how a change can really happen, just by being yourself, just by any imagination you have that can run wild. You only live once so go for it.”- she said.

Peter Cramer, president of Universal Pictures, said in a statement to CNN;

“She is not only tremendously talented in front of the camera, but offers a unique perspective as a creator and producer that will resonate with all audiences,”

Martin will appear in the 2021 edition of the physical Guinness World Records book and in the meantime, her production company, Genius Productions, is currently working on another film, “StepMonster.”
