1. Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police and Head, Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force, was yesterday, suspended over his indictment by FBI. In a statement on Sunday, Ikechukwu Ani, spokesman of the Police Service Commission, said Kyari’s suspension took effect on Saturday.

2. A notorious terror kingpin operating around the Dansadau axis of the vast Kuyambana Forest, Ali Kachalla, was the one responsible for the recent shooting down of a Nigeria Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet, Daily Trust can report. When the military jet was downed through the use of heavy artillery power on June 18, no details were available about the incident from both official and unofficial sources and nothing much came out since then.

3. Seven persons were reportedly killed and over 200 houses were burnt when armed bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked Jebu Miango community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State in the early hours of Sunday. A lawmaker representing Rukuba/Irigwe Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Musa Agah Avia, confirmed the incident.

4. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has challenged a former Governor Sule Lamido to come clean on how former Governor Saminu Turaki surrendered governorship ticket to him in 2007 and campaigned for his eventual victory. Shehu was reacting to remarks by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido who faulted President Buhari for receiving defectors (governors and lawmakers) in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, describing it as another form of corruption involving stolen mandates.

7. Two suspected armed robbers have been set ablaze by an angry mob in Anambra State. The incident occurred at Mmili ezi Igbo in Oraukwu community, Idemmili North Local Government Area on Sunday morning. Anambra Police spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident.
