1. President Alpha Conde of Guinea is currently in detention in what is believed to be a coup by soldiers. Guinea’s special forces claimed Sunday to have captured President Alpha and “dissolved” the country’s institutions.

2. A 45-year-old woman, Mrs Oladapo Bukola, and two of her daughters were abducted at Pegi community in Kuje area council of Abuja on Sunday. The spokesman of the FCT police command ASP Daniel Y Ndiparya, confirmed the incident, saying efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims.

3. Following the surge in security crisis in Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Sunday directed the closure of 30 boarding schools across the State. Fintiri’s directive was contained in a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Wilbina Jackson.

4. Gunmen have kidnapped a 60-year-old traditional title holder, Alh. Kabiru Ahmad and set a police vehicle ablaze in Taura local Government area of Jigawa State. Police spokesman in the state, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident to newsmen on Sunday.

5. A Cameroon separatist group, the Interim Government of Southern Cameroon Ambazonia has said the group has no plans to attack Nigerian citizens. It accused the Cameroonian government, through her military, of plots to put the group on collision course with Nigerian government by disguising as ‘Ambazonians’ to attack Nigerian security personnel

6. The Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the nation’s health sector due to a number of issues. The MDCAN’s newly elected National President, Dr Victor Makanjuola, made the call at a news conference organised by the National Officers’ Committee (NOC) of the association on Sunday in Ibadan.
