1. Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has frowned at the way the Federal Government is taking loans. According to the ex-president, borrowing for recurrent expenditure is ‘foolish’. In an interview on Sunday, Obasanjo said that borrowing and accumulating debt for the next generations to come is criminal.

2. Three policemen were on Sunday, killed by gunmen in Onitsha, Anambra State while two persons identified to be civilians sustained bullet wounds in the attack. A source in the area said the attack occurred at Ezeiweka road in the commercial city, and that a patrol van belonging to the police was also set ablaze by the attacking gunmen.

3. Two housemates have been evicted from the sixth edition of the Big Brother Naija House. They are Yusuf Adam, better known as Yousef, and Tsakute Jonah, known as Saskay.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the incorporation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited. In a statement issued on Sunday, Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina said the President gave the directive in his capacity as Minister of Petroleum Resources.

5. Unknown gunmen have attacked ECWA church in Kogi State, killing one person and kidnapping two others. The yet-to-be identified assailants opened fire on the worshippers as church service was going on, killing one person on the spot.

6. The Middle Belt Forum on Sunday provided a detailed insight into how one of its promoters and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, died at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Abuja. The organisation said that he was shabbily treated by doctors. The National Publicity Secretary of MBF, Dr. Isuwa Dogo, made the clarification in a statement issued in Abuja.

7. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has urged the National Association of Resident Doctors to obey the court order asking them to resume work. He said this during an interview on Sunday.
