1. The interrogation of socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu aka Obi Cabana, entered the third day, on Wednesday, without any hint of when he would perfect his bail and leave the anti-graft agency in Abuja. An official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, confirmed this yesterday that the businessman was still being grilled and that his release was hinged on his ability to perfect his bail conditions.

2. The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested some lecturers over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB). They were arrested in a joint operation carried out by the DSS and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

3. Elders from the Northern region have accused the Federal Government of neglecting Borno State capital, Maiduguri, which has been without power from the national grid for 10 months. In a communique issued at the end of the meeting which was signed by its spokesman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, they also berated President Buhari-led government over worsening security situation in the country.

4. At least, seven people have been shot dead in Bolki Ward in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, said seven others who sustained injuries in the attack were responding to treatment at a hospital.

5. There was palpable tension in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, yesterday, after soldiers mounted security checkpoints on strategic locations following reports of planned invasion of the city by bandits and terrorists. It was gathered that security reports obtained by the military, late Tuesday night, revealed that the attackers fleeing from the heavy military onslaught in the northwestern part of the country were planning to enter the FCT, through the Abuja-Keffi Expressway and other entry points.

6. The Federal Government has renewed its plans to safeguard Nigeria’s digital economy from cybercrimes, while building more trust among strategic stakeholders in the country. The Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, made this known at the 2021 annual Cybersecurity Conference, on Wednesday, in Abuja.

7. The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has approved N39 billion to be awarded by the ministries of Aviation, Works and Housing and the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS). The meeting authorised the award of a contract for direct procurement, installation and commissioning of the total radar coverage modernisation for the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) at the cost of 14,428,218.17 Euros (N28,039,080,799.40).
