1. Kaduna based Islamic Scholar, Shaikh Ahmad Gumi, has built a school for herdsmen at Kagarko Grazing Reserve near Kohoto Village forest in Kaduna State. The scholar, who named the school as Sheikh Uthman Bin Fodio Centre, said it was funded by Sultan Mosque Foundation Limited.

2. Suspected members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State yesterday. The fighters reportedly set houses ablaze in Dille village in the same Local Government Area that was attacked during the weekend.

3. Some gunmen, who plotted to attack residents of Zango Urban District of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State were overpowered by the military on Monday night. Mallam Isa Tela, a resident of Zango town, who spoke to reporters in Kaduna, said the people were going about their activities after Isha’i prayer, around 8:00pm, when they started hearing gunshots.

4. Boko Haram terrorists have taken over five communities in Rafi and Shiroto Local Government Areas of Niger State. This is according to Alhaji Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the State Government. He disclosed this in an interview in Minna, the state capital, on Monday.

5. Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has set up a four-member committee for White Paper on the reports submitted by the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for victims of SARS related abuses and other matters. Sanwo-Olu constituted the committee after receiving the two reports of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for victims of SARS-related abuses and other matters.

6. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has distanced itself from the appointment of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, as a Professor at the Federal University of Technology, FUTO, Owerri. The union said it was not convinced that the minister deserved the appointment.

7. A final year student of the Department of Microbiology, University of Ilorin, Waliyullah Salaudeen, has opened up on why he beat his female lecturer, Mrs Zakariyau, to stupor. According to the student, his action was necessitated by the refusal of the lecturer to help wave his mandatory SIWES scheme despite all his explanations.
