Nigeria’s Flamingos Beat USA To Qualify For First-Ever Semi-final At U-17 World Cup

Nigeria’s Flamingos have advanced to the semi-finals of this year’s U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

Flamingos defeated the United States on penalties in the quarter-finals on Friday.

After 90 minutes of football ended 1-1, the game was decided by penalty shootout. With the Flamingos winning 4-3 to go to their first-ever semi-final.

The Flamingos will now face either Columbia or Tanzania in the semi-finals on Wednesday, October 26.

Omamuzo Edafe scored a penalty for the Flamingos in the 27th minute after a foul on Amina Bello inside the box.

Amalica Villarreal equalized for the United States with five minutes remaining in the first half.

After neither team could produce a winner in the second half, the game went to penalties, which the Americans missed twice and the Flamingos missed one.

And Edafe converted the game-winning penalty kick to advance Nigeria to the quarterfinals.
