NNPC Ltd has Denied Importing Adulterated Fuel and Recent Price Hike

iexclusivenews – NNPC Ltd, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has firmly stated it does not import adulterated fuel and is not responsible for the recent hike in fuel prices.

NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, responding to demands for Group Chief Executive Officer Malam Mele Kyari’s resignation over rising fuel prices, clarified on Tuesday that protesters were misinformed about the causes of fuel price increases and the quality of fuel distributed by NNPC Ltd.

According to reports monitored on NAN, civil society organizations stormed NNPC headquarters in Abuja to protest the hike in petrol price.

“If they were informed, they would know that the GCEO is not responsible for the fuel price increase,” Soneye remarked.

“In fact, the GCEO ensured that Nigerians had access to fuel at N620 per litre for over a year, even when the landing cost was above N1,100.”

Olufemi Soneye also addressed accusations of adulterated fuel imports, stating, “The NNPC Ltd. does not import adulterated fuel. If anyone has evidence to the contrary, they should bring forward samples of any such fuel imported by NNPC Ltd.”

Soneye assured that NNPC is focused on achieving national energy security and will not be distracted by protests, reaffirming NNPC’s commitment to implementing President Tinubu’s energy roadmap for Nigeria.
