Obasanjo Opens Up On What’s Giving Him Sleepless Night
Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria, has stated that Africa’s growing population gives him restless nights.
iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Obasanjo remarked this during a speech during the public presentation of the first edition of the Africa Progress Group (APG) report on Tuesday, according to Iexclusive News Nigeria.
His heart falls whenever he travels and sees the massive population “oozing out of nowhere,” according to him.
“Whenever thoughts of the ever-increasing population kept me up at night, three clusters of questions came up in my mind,” Obasanjo remarked.
“The first cluster concerns how we will feed this rapidly growing population.
“The second set of problems is: how can we keep the vast army of unemployed youth’s keg of gunpowder from exploding?
How can we prevent kids from joining violent extremist organizations or kidnapping gangs?
“In a tumultuous sea of expanding, poorly managed people, how can Africa achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063?” says the third cluster of questions.
