Ohanaeze Enraged Over Killing Of 4 Igbo Traders At Ladipo Market

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide, OYC, has voiced anger over the reported assassination of about four Igbo traders by military troops in Lagos.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that it was previously stated that a brawl occurred in Lagos State’s Ladipo Market when armed military personnel invaded the market and clashed with Igbo traders

According to sources, the incident was precipitated by a military guy who insisted on replacing an engine he purchased over a year ago, saying it was in poor condition.

He was said to have summoned more troops, who opened fire in the marketplace, killing about four people.

However, the military reported that just one person perished.

Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, President-General of the OYC, characterized the event as extremely inflammatory in a statement released on Thursday.

He said, “We are saddened by the needless tragedy that has befallen unfortunate Igbo merchants at Lagos State’s Ladipo Market.”

This is another sobering reminder that Ndigbo has long been used as scapegoats and sacrificial lambs in order to keep Nigeria together.

“This is one too many killings, and we are not going to let it go unchecked; everyone who was involved, directly or indirectly, in the assassination of those family breadwinners must pay a heavy price.”

“We have already established a committee, chaired by Comrade Obinna Achuonye, Secretary-General of OYC, with the Coordinator of OYC in Lagos serving as secretary.

Their duty is to conduct further investigations and provide the OYC with information on the event, including the number of lives lost, the destruction and looting of property, as well as the involvement of military officials.

“We will take this issue to the greatest level possible, even if it means bringing it beyond the country,” the group said.
