Senator kalu had facilitated a solar electric power to Kuje to connect the worship centres while he was held at the place between December 2019 and May 2020.

The lighting project was extended to both the churches and mosques to enhance the worship as well as other daily activities of both the inmates and prison staff.

The solar project for the Kuje correctional centre, said to be an inmates-financed project was cost at a whopping sum of N27 million and was nearly abandoned, but revived when during his short stay, Kalu donated N21 million naira towards the scheme thereby bringing the project to life again.

The excited inmates also told tales of how Kalu impacted positively on their lives when he was at the facility.

Kalu according to the inmates and staff, had extended his philanthropic gestures towards scores of the inmates by paying their legal fees.

Sen. Kalu it was told, helped many who could not meet their bail to perfect the conditions and ensured their freedom.

He also reportedly fed inmates, paid for medicine supply for those who were sick, and upgraded power supply in the prison from its epileptic state to more than 18 hours per day.
