PDP Group Demand Secondus, Jibrin Resignation Calls For 1M Match Against Insecurity

PDP leaders have been urged to spearhead a one-million-man march against insecurity and poverty in Nigeria, according to the Concerned PDP League.

iexclusive News Nigeria report that Concerned PDP League has called for PDP leaders to lead a one-million-man march against insecurity and poverty in Nigeria, as well as the resignation of Uche Secondus, the party’s National Chairman, and Walid Jibrin, the chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Warmate Daboikiabo, the group’s head, spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of members of the PDP National Working Committee.

They should organize a one-million-strong demonstration against daily killings, hunger, rising food prices, insecurity, and the delay in passing and signing the Electoral Act, he stated.

He also expressed fear that the PDP will remain an opposition party for a longer period of time.

“If caution is not exercised now, the way things are going, we may find ourselves back in opposition at the center and in additional states for another eight years,” Mr Daboikiabo warned. “Whenever our magnificent party loses elections, we at the bottom of the party’s ranking pyramid suffer the most.”

According to him, the PDP leaders should have capitalized on the failure to approve and sign the Electoral Bill, as well as other obstacles, to promote the party.

Mr Daboikiabo accused Mr Secondus and other PDP national leaders of failing to deliver the “desired aggressive, active, and strong” opposition party, citing rising internal disputes, court proceedings, and the defection of several PDP state and local chapter leaders as examples.

Mr Daboikiabo said that the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees did nothing to ensure that Mr Secondus and his staff followed the party’s constitution.

“As party patriots, we have communicated our concerns, grievances, and demands via the avenues offered in the form of a petition and a request letter to meet with some of our leaders, in accordance with our magnificent party constitution as updated in 2017.” But all of these avenues have failed,” he explained.

“The party leadership should defend the suspension of former Niger state Governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu,” Mr Daboikiabo stated of the PDP situation in Nigeria. The PDP’s national permanent secretariat should get to work right now.

“To avoid a judicial case, the party should pay the home allowance of the disengaged staffs, as calculated by the then-caretaker committee chairman, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, and agreed by the NEC.”

Mr Daboikiabo also urged the Senate and its INEC committee to reject Lauretta Onochie’s nomination as a national commissioner.

“Her nomination is in violation of all Nigerian election laws, including section 153 subsection 3 and item F, paragraph 14(2)(c) of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. Partisanship and unassailable honesty are the keywords and phrases, respectively.”
