IexclusiveNews reports that the fund was approved on Wednesday at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It followed an introduction from communication and digital economy minister Isa Pantami who said that an examination completed in the five international zones of the nation uncovered that out of the 320 frequencies found, 106 were unlawful.

He said the examination didn’t cover the southeast aspect of the nation; It just secured Northeast, Northwest, Northcentral, Southwest and South south.

“It is a direct result of this that we introduced our update, looking for board’s endorsement of N653,886,584 to secure and send hybrid spectrum checking system that will cover the southern aspect of the nation, in particular the Southeast,” the minister said.

“So the council affirmed for the sending and this task will come en route in advancing wellbeing and security and furthermore, recognize the use of illicit frequency and thirdly, upgrade income for the national government and fourthly, over the long run, it will make numerous jobs for the residents(citizens).”

Lawyer General Abubakar Malami suggested indictment of all unlawful frequency operators, depicting the process as excessively widespread and risky.

One of the stations that may probably be influenced by the Government’s ongoing move is Radio Biafra, directed by Nnamdi Kanu, head of the banished Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The station has been working on flawed frequencies for quite a long time and much of the time transforms it after each administration crackdown.
