BREAKING: President Buhari Lifts Twitter Ban In Nigeria

Nigeria’s Twitter ban has been lifted by President Buhari.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the conditional removal of Twitter’s prohibition on Friday morning, October 1, 2021.

This online news outlet learns that President Buhari stated this position during a broadcast in Abuja on Friday to commemorate Nigeria’s 61st independence day.

On June 5, the Buhari government banned Twitter’s activities in Nigeria to allow the government to put in place measures to address the social media platform’s recognized harmful trends.

President Buhari declared that the Presidential Committee he formed, along with its Technical Team, had successfully engaged Twitter to examine the potential of addressing the issue that led to the suspension of Twitter’s activity in Nigeria.

“Following the suspension of Twitter operations, Twitter Inc. reached out to Nigeria’s Federal Government to work out a solution. Following that, I formed a Presidential Committee to work with Twitter to see if there was a way to resolve the problem.
