RCCG Church Suspends Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa over Homosexuality Allegations

iexclusivenews – The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has taken decisive action by suspending Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa over allegations of homosexuality involving young people in the church.

This move underscores the church’s commitment to upholding its doctrines and values.

This online news media understands that RCCG Church has always maintained a strict stance against homosexuality, rooted in biblical teachings.

The allegations against Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa have prompted the church to act swiftly.

An internal memo dated October 28, 2024, with Ref: RCCG/NO/s.04/13/vol.1, titled “Investigation and Suspension Regarding Allegations of Homosexuality,” was addressed to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration.

The memo emphasized that the church does not tolerate any act of homosexuality and directed a thorough investigation within two weeks.

Investigation and Suspension Details

The memo, signed by RCCG Church National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, and copied to all national organs in the church, highlighted the seriousness of the allegations.

It stated, “This memo serves to inform you of serious allegations of homosexuality against Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa. In accordance with our mission’s commitment to upholding the teachings of the Bible, we must address these allegations with the utmost seriousness they deserve.”

The church’s doctrine, based on biblical teachings such as Leviticus 18:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, does not allow or tolerate any act of homosexuality.

The memo directed the Special Assistant to conduct a thorough investigation and temporarily relieve Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, Deacon Oke Mayowa, and all others alleged from their responsibilities in all mission organs pending the investigation’s outcome.

Handling the Situation with Integrity

The RCCG Church emphasized the importance of handling the situation with care and integrity, in accordance with its values.

The investigation is to be conducted confidentially and with respect for all parties involved.

In a letter of removal addressed to Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, dated October 25, the RCCG Church directed him to comply and relinquish all his positions in the church, given the seriousness of the allegations.

The letter, signed by Laolu Oroge, Secretary of RCCG PSF Global Council, reminded Pastor AdeBello that the alleged offences are criminal and punishable by law if proven beyond reasonable doubt.

The letter stated, “We write to inform you of your immediate suspension from any responsibilities within the RCCG Pastors Seed Family. This decision comes in light of the serious allegations that have materialized about your inappropriate conduct with teenage boys.”

Upholding Core Values

The allegations undermine the core values of the RCCG Pastors Seed Family, which include holiness, accountability, transparency, and the protection of all individuals, particularly the vulnerable.

The RCCG Church insisted that predatory behavior against those to whom the church owes a duty of care is gravely unacceptable and will not be tolerated if found to be true.

The church also emphasized its duty to listen, investigate, and redress grievances and allegations brought against those in positions of influence and authority.

An independent, impartial investigation will be conducted, and if the allegations are substantiated, it will result in the indefinite removal of the accused from any office within the organization.

Cooperation and Compliance

During the investigation period, Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa are required to step down from their positions and relinquish all associated responsibilities and privileges, including removal from all Pastors Seed Family-related platforms.

The RCCG Church advised them to cooperate with the investigation and avoid any actions that could compromise its integrity.

The church further advised them to voluntarily step down from any other positions they hold within and outside the church.

The letter concluded with a reminder of Acts 24:16, “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.”

Commitment to Truth and Justice

The RCCG Church acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and is committed to ensuring that the truth is revealed and appropriate actions are taken in response to the allegations.

The church expects prompt compliance from the accused, given the seriousness of the allegations, and reminded them that these allegations are criminal offences against the state and punishable by law if proven beyond reasonable doubt.
