Sanwo-Olu had asked a few celebrities, youngsters, civil society organizations, and the media to participate in the peace walk with him.
iexclusive News Nigeria reports that despite the governor’s claims that it will mark a new beginning for the state, a few persons publicly declined the invitation.
Sanwo-Olu stated at a press conference on Thursday that the peace walk had been canceled due to an increase in instances of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

“We choose to be guided by professional opinions based on research rather than our emotions. We have seen a significant increase in cases associated with the Omicron variant of this pandemic between Tuesday, November 30, 2021, when I gave my address, and now.
“In light of this development, I am forced to halt all preparations for the peace walk.” In my honest pursuit for peace, I will not imperil the lives of any Lagosians,” he stated.

Sanwo-Olu went on to say that he has been “overwhelmed” by the outpouring of support for the project from far and wide. The outpouring of support, on the other hand, indicates one thing: our people recognize the critical role of peace in our development efforts.”
