Slap Fight debuts in Nigeria October – Organizers

On Saturday, the organizers of the Slap Fight announced that the combat sport will debut in Nigeria in October.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Mr Abdullrahman Orosanya, the Executive Director of TKK Sport, the promoter of Slap Fight Nigeria, said the date has yet to be determined in a statement released in Lagos.

He stated that preparations were well underway for the inaugural championship, which will take place in Lagos in October, with the title bout taking place in Lagos in December.

Slap fighting, according to Orosanya, is a relatively new sport in Nigeria, although it was popularized in Russia and has acquired appeal in the United States and several European nations.

“Slap Fighting is a combat sport, or at least it claims to be a combat sport.

“The roots of slap fighting are a little hazy, but the notion has been around for a long time and has appeared in popular media.

“Competitive Slap Fight events are considerably more contemporary. Russian competitions in 2010 ushered in a new age of contemporary Slap Fighting popularity, pitting contestants against each other in competition.

“At the moment, the tournament is being held in the United States, the United Kingdom, Poland, Russia, and South Africa, with Nigeria being the newest bride.

“Preparations are well on for the inaugural championship, which will take place in Lagos state in October, with the title bout scheduled for December in Lagos,” he added.

The tournament will be divided into four divisions, according to Orosanya: middleweight, lightweight, heavyweight, and super heavyweight.

“The competition’s regulations are straightforward. The knockout stage is used to pit fighters against one another.

“Two guys stand face to face and alternate slapping each other with bare hands and no head protection. The competitors alternate slapping each other hard around the face on the cheek with an open hand.

“A knock-out or a judge’s decision determines the winner,” he explained.

“J T Tilley of Slap Fight Championship will lead the resource team, which will include coaches, instructors, and athletes from Slap Fight and the World Slap Fight Alliance,” he added.

“One of the main regulations is that only the upper half of the hand can be used to strike the opponent’s cheek, without reaching the opponent’s jaw, temple, or ear,” Orosanya continued.

“The tournament is open to all athletes, including world-class competitors, high-profile influencers, and smack-talking rivals who give it their all to settle their differences and win the hard way.

“Prior to the tournament, both competitors and officials will participate in a virtual training to improve their knowledge of the regulations, current fighting methods, and other new developments in the Slap Fight sport.
