Soludo’s Fate Uncertain As Imo Court Declares Umeoji APGA Candidate 

Chukwuma Umeoji has been proclaimed the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the next governorship election in Anambra State by an Imo State High Court in Owerri. 

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission has been asked to recognize him as such.

The statement was made by Justice B. C. Iheka on Wednesday in an order he issued on Chike Dike’s complaint against the Independent National Electoral Commission. 

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, and Jude Okeke, as the first, second, and third respondents, respectively.

Chukwuma Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, is the candidate of the Victor Oye-led APGA group loyal to Governor Willie Obiano.

“The plaintiff’s claims are hereby dismissed,” Justice Iheka ruled in his decision in the case with Suit Number: HOW/543/2021.

The judgment, which our correspondent saw a certified true copy of, said in part. 

“The third defendant is entitled to consequential orders, and I declare and order as follows: that the third defendant is a valid member of the second defendant, and that, as a result, the second defendant is entitled to all the rights and privileges pertaining to such membership under Article 7(4) of the Constitution.”

That the APGA National Convention, conducted on May 31, 2019, in Owerri, Imo State, is valid, lawful, and in conformity with court orders and the law.

“The suspension of the previous National Chairman of the party, Edozie Njoku, is genuine and continuing, and in accordance with the party constitution,” Justice Iheka added.
