Tension In Njaba LGA As Bandits Kill Imo Traditional Ruler, Dump Body In Market Square
Tension in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, following the murder of the traditional ruler of Atta ancient kingdom, Edwin Azike.

iexclusivenews reports that Damian Nwaigwe, the traditional ruler of Mbutu ancient kingdom in the Aboh Mbaise LGA of the state, was taken from his palace on Thursday morning.
A family source, who asked to remain anonymous, verified the news to our correspondent, stating that four people were shot dead in the neighborhood on Thursday after the king was abducted.
Iyke Oduozor, a 17-year-old apprentice, one Lady Dominica, and another whose name could not be determined at the time of submitting this report were among those killed.

Azike’s body, he alleged, was discarded in the market square and discovered by the residents this morning.
Also confirming the report, the Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council/ Community Policing in the state, Eze Emma Okeke, said that the monarchs in the state were saddened by the killing of their colleague.
He described the killing of Azike as an abomination, saying that the council was on Friday morning informed of the killing of the traditional ruler.

“Traditional rulers are not politicians; we are just stewards of our people’s tradition.” We were notified on Thursday that he had been kidnapped, only to find him dead this morning.
“We have got the tragic news of Eze Edwin Azike’s death. In Igbo culture, this is despicable. “I’m not sure why traditional rulers are being pursued in this manner,” he explained.

When reached, Micheal Abattam, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, offered to conduct an investigation and come back to our correspondent, but he has yet to do so before this story was prepared.
