Tinubu Commissions VP’s Official Residence After 14 Years

ABUJA, (iexclusivenews) – On Friday, President Bola Tinubu officially commissioned the Vice President’s official quarters, marking the completion of a project that began 14 years ago in 2010.

This significant event took place within the prestigious Three Arms Zone.

The Journey of the Project

The contract for the residence was initially awarded in 2010 at a cost of N7 billion.

However, the project faced abandonment in 2015 during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and the tenure of then-Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello.

Upon assuming office in August 2023, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike prioritized the completion of abandoned projects.

With President Tinubu’s approval in January 2024, the project was reviewed and completed, with the total cost rising to N21 billion due to years of neglect.

Commitment to Democracy

During the inauguration, President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

He pledged to ensure the prudent utilization of the nation’s resources, highlighting the importance of completing projects rather than abandoning them.

Vice President Shettima expressed his joy at the completion of the project, noting that it symbolizes the respect President Tinubu has for the office of the Vice President.

He praised Tinubu for providing the necessary tools to lay a solid foundation for efficient governance.

Enhancing Productivity

Minister Wike highlighted the importance of a conducive environment for productivity.

He thanked President Tinubu for his commitment to completing abandoned projects, noting that a good environment enhances efficiency and productivity.

Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Shehu Ahmad Hadi, detailed the scope of the project.

The residence includes 15 units of blocks, places of worship (a mosque and a chapel), a standby power house, water treatment facilities, and garages for public and VIP parking. Recreational facilities are also provided.

The Vice President’s official residence is one of the eight critical FCT projects undertaken by Minister Wike and inaugurated by President Tinubu to mark his one year in office.
