Uromi: Edo Bank Heist Hit 4 Banks In 24Hrs (Video)

Uromi in Edo State, Thursday, witnessed one of the most daring bank heists in Nigeria’s recent history.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that in broad daylight, more than 20 armed men assaulted the town of Esan North-West LGA and operated for almost 2 hours.

The banks’ entrances were breached using explosives, and money packets were transported out and packed into several cars.

The extent of the carnage and murder of Nigerians, including security agents, can be seen in photos and videos posted on social media.

The exact number of casualties is unknown, however, eyewitness reports indicate that at least 7 people died, with others suffering injuries.

Residents claimed that the police and other security organizations had deserted them. Two soldiers are seen taking cover amid gunfire in one video.

Nigerians were outraged by the robbery and killings, and many wondered how the criminals were able to operate so openly.

ASP Kongtons Bello, the Public Relations Officer for the Edo Police Command, said the leadership was analyzing the issue.

“Yes, the situation from yesterday is true. In that location, four commercial banks and a police division were attacked.

“The Commissioner of Police has dispatched reinforcements from State Headquarters to tighten up security and ensure the apprehension of the fugitive group of criminals.”

“As well as restoring peace and order to the community.”

That is being ensured by the police and other security organizations.

The PRO stated, “The Commissioner and the management team have moved to the site for an on-the-ground evaluation of the damages and losses.”
