1. The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs NSCIA has directed Muslims to take extra security and health measures to protect themselves during the Ramadan fast.

2. South-East Governors, yesterday, established a security outfit, EBUBE AGU, to curtail the rising insecurity in the region. Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, Dave Umahi, made the announcement on Sunday.

3. A 13-year-old boy, Gbolahan Ajibola, was, at the weekend, abducted by gunmen in Obada-Oko Community in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident yesterday.

4. Nigerian Land and Air Army, during the weekend, eliminated scores of insurgents who stormed the Damasak town, Borno State in five gun trucks. Two soldiers were also killed in the process.

5. Unknown gunmen, yesterday, abducted a Catholic Priest, Rev. Prof. Izu Marcell Onyeocha at Ihube Community in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Orlando Godson Ikeokwu confirmed the incident.

6. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) yesterday alleged that the appointment of Rectors for six new polytechnics by President Buhari, violated the Federal Polytechnics Act, 2019. Anderson Ezeibe, ASUP President stated this in a statement on Sunday.

7. Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has directed the Muslim Ummah to look out for the crescent (moon) of Ramadan 1442AH from Monday. He stated this in a statement issued yesterday by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto.

8. The Kwara State Government on Sunday recalled students of the 10 mission schools affected by the hijab crisis in the state since February, directing them to start the third term academic programme from today, Monday, April 12, 2021. This was contained in a statement by Mrs Kemi Adeosun, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital.

9. The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control yesterday warned Nigerians against adding chemicals and additives to food and drinks to enhance taste. NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye gave the warning in a statement on Sunday.

10. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed 57 fresh cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in seven states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. This brings the total number of confirmed cases so far to 163,793.
