Southern Governors To Buhari, Stop Selective Arrests

Southern Governors Forum has urged President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to always follow the law while arresting individuals or groups of people accused of committing one or more crimes.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the governors stated this in a statement read by Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the conclusion of the meeting on Monday.

The 17 Southern Governors also agreed that Nigeria’s president should be rotated between Southern and Northern Nigeria.

The summit evaluated the country’s position and concentrated on the present security situation, constitutional amendment, and the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), among other things.

The Governors agreed that the country should stay together, but on the pillars of equity, fairness, justice, progress, and peaceful coexistence among its people.

According to the statement, “the forum frowns on selective criminal administration of justice and agreed that arrests should be made within the purview of the law and fundamental human rights.”
