Niger Delta Militants Threaten Attack On Oil Facilities Over 3% Allocation

Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders (NDRC), a militant group, has threatened to relaunch attacks on oil sites in the region.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that because of the three percent granted to host communities in the recently passed Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) by the National Assembly, the NDRC announced it will continue attacks on oil sites.

The proportion allotment to host villages, according to the group’s spokesperson, WO 1 Izon-Ebi, is unfavorable.

In a statement, Izon-Ebi stated the PIB is a coup against the people of the Niger Delta, vowing to resist until the bill is reviewed.

The gang has issued a warning that its commanders have returned to the Niger Delta’s creeks in preparation for a strike.

“We will resist until objectionable elements of the PIB are examined by the National Assembly, commanders have returned to the creeks of the Niger Delta region waiting to strike,” the statement stated.

“For 56 years, the region has been subjected to vandalism of sacred sites like as worship centers, fields, streams, and lakes, as well as serious environmental degradation that has gone unabated.

“While the government and people of Zamfara State are given complete authority over their gold reserves (fiscal federalism applying in Zamfara State).

What the residents of the Niger Delta region could earn from their own natural resource is a meager 3% for host communities, compared to a huge 30% for frontier basin exploration.

“We shall defend our resources and preserve our territory from further indiscriminate plunder of our God-given assets.”

The PIB, which allocates 3% to host communities and was just passed by the National Assembly, sparked outrage among Nigerians.
