Fulani Herdsmen Kill 8 In Another Enugu Attack, Blame Nnamdi Kanu

Eight people have been killed in Enugu State’s Mgbuji community, Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area by Fulani Herdsmen.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Fulani Herdsmen ambushed villagers, destroying areas of farmland and leaving a number of people missing.

Herdsmen allegedly threatened the village and blamed Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the incident, according to the community.

The number of people injured has led to speculation that the death toll would grow.

Chinaza Akan, an eye witness, informed The Sun that one of the victims was a pregnant woman. The fetus was removed when her stomach was opened.

The most recent occurrence occurred on Sunday afternoon near the community’s border with Benue.

Rt Rev Daniel Nkemjika Olinya, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Eha-Amufu, confirmed the incident.

In 2021, hostile herdsmen raided Mgbuji for the third time, according to the cleric.

“The previous incident, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in the death of six persons. Five of them have yet to be laid to rest. They came back and killed eight people this time,” he claimed.

Olinya also connected the killings to the herdsmen’s eviction notice.

“Some of people who were kidnapped and released said the herders insisted on staying till IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu ceased his Biafra agitations,” he said.

The police arrived on Monday to remove the bodies, but were met with resistance, according to the Bishop.

The residents of the village insisted that the operatives sign a contract promising to return the bodies to the family members for burial.

The repeated attacks are being investigated by the Enugu Command.
