BREAKING: 8 More Corpses Recovered In Jos

Eight additional bodies have been found among the victims of Saturday’s gun assault in Jos, Plateau State’s capital.

Gunmen opened fire on tourists returning from a religious gathering in neighboring Bauchi State, according to reports monitored by iexclusive News Nigeria on Daily Trust.

This online outlet gathered that according to a witness, a convoy of five cars was assaulted along the Gada-Biyu route in Plateau’s Jos North Local Government Area.

After attending a ceremony commemorating the Islamic New Year at Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi Mosque in Bauchi State, the victims were allegedly on their way back to the South West.

Although the identity of those responsible for the shooting is unknown, the victims were slain on the day when several others who had been killed before were to be buried.

Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has denounced the event and issued a warning to troublemakers.

He stated that his government will not tolerate any sort of lawlessness to destabilize the state’s tranquility.

To restore peace, he instructed security services to find and apprehend the culprits while controlling the area.

While expressing his condolences to the victims’ families, the Governor informed all law-abiding people that security surrounding the region, as well as the whole metropolis, has been stepped up to prevent further breaches of the peace.

He urged residents to be cautious and security conscious when reporting suspicious people or activity in their neighborhoods so that law enforcement officials may respond promptly.
