Sultan of Sokoto condemns killing of Muslims in Jos

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto has strongly denounced the death of a group of innocent Muslims on their way from Bauchi to Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the Sultan, according to the Director of Administration, NSCIA, Arc. Zubairu Haruna Usman-ugwu, stated on Sunday that it was a case of mistaken identity and not specifically meant for Muslims while supporting the comments of their excellencies, the governors of Plateau and Ondo states.

The council urged all Muslims to remain calm and that no one should take the law into their own hands.

The council has re-emphasized that no human life deserves to be squandered on religious or ethnic grounds, according to the statement.

The Supreme Council interpreted Qur’an 49:6 as stating, “O you who have believed!” in the spirit of the Islamic commandment. If any transgressors offer you the news that demands action, verify it thoroughly (before believing and acting on it), lest you inadvertently hurt a people and later regret your actions.”

The Sultan reassured all peace-loving persons and organizations in the statement that necessary measures will be taken after a thorough inquiry.

Meanwhile, while search operations for the eight missing Muslims continue, the council asked security forces to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous actions and ensure that sufficient justice is served.

The council, on the other hand, expressed its condolences to all Muslims, particularly Sheikh Dahiru Banchi, the host of the religious event from which the victims were returning, and prayed that Almighty Allah cures the injured and grants al-Jannah to the martyrs who had died.
