IPOB: Why 22-Year-old Gloria Okolie Was Arrested – Police

Gloria Okolie, 22, was arrested by Nigerian police for spying for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Aremu Adeniran, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, said she was apprehended in an operation involving the military and other security personnel on Sunday.

The police have been chastised for keeping Okolie for weeks without providing a full explanation for her detention or crimes.

The suspect was involved in attacks on security formations, key infrastructure, including INEC offices, and the assassination of security operatives in the South-East, according to Adeniran.

The spokesman stated, “The native of Umutanza in Imo was detained as part of Operation Restore Peace operations to break IPOB’s information, narcotics, and guns supply network.”

“Gloria Okolie is a member of IPOB/ESN in Imo State who worked closely with one Benjamin Uzoma Emojiri a.k.a. “Onye Army,” an ESN commander previously declared wanted by the Police.

“Onye Army co-planned, coordinated, and executed the assault on Imo State Police Command Headquarters and Imo State Headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

Her capture and the information gained from her confession aided the police in apprehending “Onye Army,” a significant step forward in the fight to restore law and order in the South-East region.”

According to the authorities, Okolie used her gender and ostensibly benign appearance to carry out espionage on behalf of IPOB/ESN on military and police targets.

The suspect also received cash, narcotics, and weapons on behalf of IPOB/ESN and transferred them to their leaders in their camps, according to the Force.

The ESN, according to Adeniran, committed many acts of murder, arson, and malicious destruction to both private and public property.

“Gloria Okolie, the ESN terrorists’ spy girl, has signed off on many of the terrible and regrettable attacks on security personnel and assets, which have resulted in several fatalities.”

The suspect will be charged in court once the investigation is completed, according to the police.
