How Hisbah Locked Up Kannywood Actress Who Uploaded ‘Sexual Content’ On Social Media

Sadiya Haruna, a Kannywood actress, and social media blogger have been fined by the Kano State Hisbah Board for posting sexual material on her social media accounts.

Sadiya Haruna, a resident of Kabuga Quarters, was first detained on Friday by Malam Aliyu Usman, the Head of Kano State Hisbah Board’s Surveillance Department.

She was then imprisoned by Islamic police until early Monday when she was taken before a Sharia court in the Sharada district of the state.

She was accused of frequently posting obscene films on her social media handles and YouTube channel in which she was dancing seductively and making sexual comments, according to the First Information Report (FIR) filed against her.

The defendant pled guilty to a single offense of obscenity and indecent act, which is in violation of Penal Code Law 2000 section 355.

Justice Ali Jibril Danzaki, the sitting judge, found her guilty and ordered her to attend a Darul Hadith Islamiyya session at Tudun Yola Quarters for a period of six months as punishment for her crime.

He further stated that the school’s headteacher and the Hisbah leadership will be monitoring her Islamiyya attendance
