Soldiers ‘Beat Taxi Driver To Death’ In Jos

Soldiers from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security group tasked with keeping calm in Plateau, allegedly killed a taxi driver, Sadik Abdullahi Karafa, on Friday night.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that while returning from Mangu before the curfew hour, the deceased was allegedly beaten by soldiers stationed at Paringada Market.

The curfew is in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., but Sadik was last seen around 9:20 p.m.

An elder brother of the deceased, Abdullahi Karafa, described how his brother was slain by soldiers.

“We were at home when a mutual acquaintance informed us that our brother had been arrested and was being abused by soldiers along Faringada Road,” he claimed. 

When one of my younger brothers, Umar Abdullahi, heard this, he immediately ran to the site and observed the troops assaulting him.

“When he told them he was Sadik’s brother, they dismissed him and stuffed him into their Hilux. 

My brother got home that Friday night, and we all decided that since it was already 10 p.m., we’d go to the checkpoint in the morning. 

We arrived at the Faringada checkpoint on Saturday morning to find him already dead.

“We then transported the body to the Katako police station to report the incident,” says the narrator. 

There was no explanation for why he was beaten to death so viciously. 

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division has paid a visit to the family to soothe them and assure them that justice will be served. 

This will not be left to chance. He went on to say, “We demand justice.”

When we contacted the OPSH’s spokesperson, Ishaku Takwa, he stated he would look into it and get back to us, but he had not done so as of press time.
