Chiwetalu Agu Manhandled By Soldiers For Wearing Biafra Outfit

Soldiers in Onitsha, Anambra State, assaulted Nollywood Actor Chiwetalu Agu on Wednesday for wearing a shirt with Biafra insignias.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that in the viral footage, Agu, 65, is seen wearing a Biafra uniform and going near a green bus near Upper Iweka Bridge when two armed soldiers wrestle him to the ground and drag him.

The actor Chinwetalu Agu, was reportedly in Onitsha on a charity expedition, where he usually distributes meals to the less fortunate, when he was apprehended by troops.

“At Upper Iweka, he was sharing meals with some less fortunate people when the troops approached him and arrested him.” He was beaten up, arrested, and hauled to their barracks, according to a source.

Agu, a supporter of the Biafra cause, has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari’s (retd.) regime for marginalizing the Igbo people in many videos.

Even as the South-East continues to confront security issues, Nigerian security officials have recently barred citizens from wearing Biafra Outfit.

On Wednesday, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, said that if the situation in Anambra did not improve, the Federal Government would not hesitate to declare a state of emergency.

The governorship election in Anambra will take place next month.

Meanwhile, the actor’s arrest has been confirmed by the Anambra State Police Command.
