How Ondo Pastor Abducted 77 Church Members Deceived Them With Rapture

The police command in the state has disclosed that a total of 77 people were freed following the recovery of some youngsters who were abducted and confined in the dungeon of a church in Ondo town. The administrative center of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

iexclusivenews reports that the victims were misled, according to SP Funmilayo Odunlami, the state’s police public relations officer, by Pastor Josiah Peter Asumosa, an assistant pastor at the Whole Bible Believers Church, also known as the “Ondo Church.” 

This online news outlet understands that the victims were recovered on Friday night at the church in the Valentino axis of Ondo town.

Odunlami revealed that the victims were 43 church members over the age of 18, 8 youths, and 26 youngsters.

She insisted that the rescue was carried out as a result of information acquired by police agents at the town’s Fagun Division.

According to the PPRO, Asumosa deceived the victims into believing the rapture would occur in April, but he then claimed it would happen in September 2022.

However, iexclusivenews Nigeria reports that the pastor further instructed the young people in his congregation to obey only their “parents in the Lord” and not their natural parents.

“Policemen were sent to the church to invite the pastor and the members of the church. On sighting the police, they attacked them.” 

The relatives of one of the victims, who were there when police officers arrived, said that their daughter, who was a part of their family, had quit school as a result of the pastor’s peculiar beliefs.

They said that since January 2022, their daughter had lived at a church instead of at home. Odunlami said two pastors involved in the crime had been brought into police custody and that an investigation had begun. The results will be made public, he said.
